Last updated June 22, 2026

Adiposphere is an educational reference for clinicians. We built it to collect as little as possible. This page explains what happens to information when you use it.

What stays in your browser

The calculators, staging tools, drug references, and patient handouts run on your own device. Anything you type into a calculator stays on your device. It is not sent to us and it is not stored off your device.

The guideline assistant

When you ask the assistant a question, the text of that question and the recent turns of the current conversation are sent to our server, which retrieves relevant guideline passages and uses the Anthropic application programming interface to generate a cited answer. We do not keep your questions or the answers once the response has been returned. Because the text is sent to a third-party model provider, please do not include patient-identifiable information.

Please do not enter patient-identifiable information. The assistant needs only a general clinical question, never a name, date of birth, medical record number, or other identifier.

Protected health information

Adiposphere is not configured or authorized to receive protected health information, and no business associate agreement is in place. Use de-identified, general clinical questions only. If your institution needs a covered data path, contact us before use. We can identify the model provider to an institution on request, for example to support a business associate agreement.

Anonymous usage analytics

We keep our own first-party, privacy-respecting count of how the site is used, so we can see which tools help clinicians and how much traffic the site gets. On your first visit your browser generates a random identifier, a short string with no name or email, stored locally so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one without knowing who you are. We record which tab or page was opened, how long a visit lasted, the device and browser type, the language setting, the country and city our network reports for the connection, and the site that referred you. For the assistant we record only that a question was asked, never the text. We do not store your IP address, we set no advertising cookies, and we use no third-party analytics service. The data is aggregated for our own use and is never sold or shared.

What we do not do

Storage on your device

The tool may keep small preferences in your browser local storage, for example a saved patient-education selection and the anonymous analytics identifier above. That stays on your device, is not sent to us as personal data, and you can clear it at any time from your browser. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Hosting, fonts, and the contact form

The site is served by Netlify, our hosting provider, which processes ordinary technical request data such as IP address and browser type in its server logs to deliver and protect the site, and which also processes contact-form messages so we can reply. Typography is loaded from a third-party font service, which receives the request needed to serve the fonts. The clinical-trials browser and the assistant make requests to external medical data sources to return the results you ask for.

For professionals

The tool is intended for health care professionals and is not directed to children.

Changes
